1.    Why is this film so important?

The film is important because it shows the emotion of the families who have members 

involved in a corrupt justice system. The film shows the places in where the justice system is failing on those who need them and that its based more on making money. The justice system is a constant cycle of taking your stereotypical colored father away from a struggling family unjust making the family fail which then pumps out more low offense criminals. This film shows light to those issues therefore making it an important film. It shows people in a modern middle class society what their newscasters are hiding from.


2.     How is the information that you received from the documentary different from the information the media provided?

The information in the film shows whats wrong with the system versus the information that blames the criminals from the media. The media uses the unjust justice system to paint an image of fear into the people listening and watching so that they'll trust the system rather then look into it and prove its downfalls and lies versus the film which shows the criminals as people in an unfair society.

Gandhi vs. Mandela

Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi are the most influential men in their home countries, Nelson in South Africa and Gandhi in India. Though they both contributed hugely to their countries independence from Britain, they had very different views on getting their countries that freedom. Nelson Mandela in his early life was a more violence prone advocate, Gandhi on other hand would fast to end the violence his people would find themselves in. Nelson Mandela stood no tolerance for the beating and killing of his people and he figured if they use violence towards them even when Nelson's people weren't violent it's not a bad thing to use violence back if it meant for the better of his people. Even though Gandhi had no tolerance for violence it was more towards his people not using it no matter how much the british do. The strongest person is the one who still holds human characteristics and does not divert to violence as a first reaction to disorder.

Some of the messages communicated through the film are that human existence isn't really us existing but following the same path as the people around us. We need to stop and enjoy the true beauty of the world and not let ourselves be programmed to be robots. Were blinded by our own shield of ignorance and were so closed minded. We need to expand our minds and learn to see both sides of things and not everything is "just okay". The meaning was conveyed through a string of images put together wisely. This could also be called juxtaposition which is the placement of images with comparison or contrast put together to create a larger meaning. The whole film was made of juxtaposition which if you payed attention created the meaning of the film.
